Yea it will be a simpler job than creating the task functionality, so I would have that part custom-developed for the site later. Actually, you may be able to use a membership plugin for the subscription functionality and then simply hire someone to integrate that plugin with the theme. That would be cheaper and probably more reliable.

I just want to clarify, if i didn’t want to use Directory Engine theme, and still the one that Fiverr uses, you are saying that after i install the Fiverr theme which is MicrojobEngine,i can hire a developer to change just the charging part to subscription? Just wanted to verify that. (Because i really am focused on the Fiverr features)
Thanks

Hey Salim,

Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you found my tutorial so helpful 🙂

This first question is tough, but I think you may want to consider the DirectoryEngine theme by EngineThemes based on your revenue model. That theme makes it easy to charge businesses to list themselves on your site rather than taking a commission from the services they sell. Otherwise, if you are more focused on the the Fiverr features, you could start off with just that functionality and then hire a developer later with your profits to add the monthly subscription option.

Your hosting and domain will be annual expenses. Bluehost will be about $60/year and your domain will be around $12/year. The theme is a one-time payment but after one year you may choose to renew your license if you want to continue receiving updates.

this is totally amazing and you have no idea how happy I am to find your blog and read all of this. Of course, like some I want to do a Fiverr website locally for Belize which is found in Central America and the only English speaking country in Latin America.
Here are some problems i need to solve though:
1.) Rather than making money from taking out a percentage when the customer purchases a service, is there a way to link directly to the local bank? I be using Atlantic Bank. This is because, apart from services, i would like to have the sellers also advertise their land and apartments and much more, so i would rather make money from the sellers creating an account and paying a small fee every month, of-course for first time users, a 1 month free trial and then a charge after that. Can I adjust that in MicrojobEngine where the seller making the account pays a fee monthly and linking it to a bank? if yes, please let me know how as I am not an IT guy or deal with any of those technicalities.

2.) Just to verify with you, which of all the things i buy to do this entire website will be a monthly payment and a one time payment?

Thank you soooo much for your time!

Hey Jake,

Thanks for the kind words! MicrojobEngine can certainly help with this. All of the content is fully customizable, so you’ll be able to create your own categories like bookkeeping on the site.

Im looking to do a fiverr type site, but for very specific work ie accounting or financial work only. Will this still suffice, can i customise the microjob engine to have only specific type of work in this field? eg, profit and loss, or maybe book keeping or trial balances etc… Please advise

Hey Ahmed,

MjE doesn’t have custom colors but this can be edited with CSS. There are a few child themes included that make changes to the style of the theme and you can edit those for further code customizations. I believe the sellers have an option in their dashboard to withdraw funds, so they can do it on their own without you needing to manually release it.

Well, I have a study for something pretty similar to the explained theme here and maybe will use it really soon, however, I have many questions I hope that you can get them cleared for me:
1- Is the theme MjE is fully customizable? I went through the developer’s website and I realized that the theme comes with only two colors ( red & blue), does it mean that I can not change it to my own colors?

2-For future expansion, I may need to add some features, remove some and change some, is that possible? In other words. Is the source code editable and can I outsource a developer to change some of the codes in it?

3- How to switch between Seller/Buyers in the main profile page.

4- The most important part is how this theme can handle the payments, we know that the money will be held in escrow until the seller finishes the job and get approved by the buyer, then the website will release the payment and keeps the commission, is that function available without human control?

Thanks and have a great day.

WordPress themes always use an open source license which they are required to inherit from WordPress, so yes you will be able to edit the code in the theme if needed.

Any managed web host should be able to handle the site without issue. WPX is a solid choice if you want a recommendation. As the site scales, you may need to transition to enterprise resources, but that probably won’t be an issue until your monthly visits are well in excess of 100,000 and you have hundreds of concurrent visitors.

I would recommend copying the payment plan that existing businesses in this niche use. They have likely already tested a lot of pricing and revenue models, so you can benefit by simply copying them.

Secondly, I highly recommend you choose a complete WordPress theme instead of an HTML template like that. The template you linked to only has the design. None of the functionality required for creating a gig website is included.

MicroJobEngine should work with a wordpress.com install if you have a Business account.

I have a few questions

1)I have a problem, the problem being the payment plan I’m not sure it is a good idea to get commission for every job done because i believe other clients will want their money in cash so what do you think of a subscription based business

2) https://themeforest.net/item/hireo-job-board-freelance-services-marketplace-html-template/22202212?s_rank=1

This is a very nice template but is not supported by WordPress but instead html so how do i go about this predicament

I’m asking this because of the traffic and processes a site like this would need if it has a lot of users, isn’t it better to recommend a VPS hosting, or something better?
What do you think?
I’m about to invest in a project of this kind, and we are looking for the best performance, so with your advice we can maybe save some money if a Web server is enough.
