Need to change the size of some text in a post or page?
You’ve come to the right place.
WordPress doesn’t have this option by default, but like most features, it’s easily added with a plugin. In this post, you’ll find an excellent plugin to change font sizes and learn how to use it on your WordPress site.
How to change text size
The simplest way to change font sizes is to use the TinyMCE Advanced plugin.
The WordPress editor is built from a program called “TinyMCE.” The TinyMCE Advanced plugin simply adds more functionality to the existing text editor.
Once you’ve installed the plugin, you’ll find the post editor updated with some new buttons and editing tools. In particular, you’ll find the new Font Sizes option in the toolbar.
To use the font size control:
- Highlight the text you want to change sizes
- Click the Font Sizes selector
- Select a new font size from the drop-down
Pro tip: Some WordPress users apply headings to modify font size. Headings should only be used to structure information in your post.
Change unit size from pt to px
While the font size control works fine already, it’s strange that the plugin uses points (pt) by default. Unlike pixels, points are used to measure physical lengths which make them more confusing to use, in my opinion.
To change to pixel sizes, visit the new TinyMCE Advanced settings menu found under your main settings menu item. Among other options, you’ll see a setting to change the font sizes to pixel values.
Once this setting is enabled, the font size selector will switch to pixel sizes instead of points.

While WordPress doesn’t have a text size option, it’s added quickly enough with the TinyMCE Advanced plugin. In fact, this plugin adds quite a few features to the toolbar including font color and font family controls.
