  • 1. Porter Pub by CMS Masters (Themeforest)

    Porter Pub

    View theme now Get hosting

    Theme Description

Porter Pub is an awesome theme for a neighborhood bar. It creates a comfortable and fun vibe right away that matches the kind of pub you’d go to for a few drinks with old friends.

This tavern theme includes a drag-and-drop page builder which is how you’ll create layouts like the one seen on the homepage. You can use the page composer to choose exactly which types of sections you want to display on the homepage and in what order. You can also create custom templates for an unlimited number of other pages on your site. Drink menus, upcoming events, image galleries – all of these are readily available in Porter Pub.

While the aesthetic isn’t quite right for a lounge or cocktail bar, Porter Pub is a perfect fit as a pub, tavern, sports bar, or brewery WordPress theme. It’s highly adaptable coming with custom colors, numerous header layouts, hundreds of fonts to select from thanks to the Google Fonts integration, image sliders, and more. All of this comes with an SEO-friendly codebase which can help you to rank effectively in the search engines.

  • 2. Groggery by GaminY (Themeforest)

    Groggery

    View theme now Get hosting

    Theme Description

Groggery is a professional theme with a clean design for bars and restaurants. The design is straightforward and less opinionated than some other options here and would work well for a variety of different bars.

One thing that makes Groggery stand out is that you can use it as a one-page theme. This means that when a visitor clicks a link in the menu, like “Menu” or “Gallery,” the site scrolls them down to the appropriate section on the homepage rather than taking them to a new page. Not everyone will like this approach, but if you want to make a simple site quickly, the one-page design will work great for you.

Groggery has some nice touches that elevate it as a premium theme. The galleries all use the beautiful masonry style which allows the images to sort unevenly into columns (like Pinterest). The menu design is pretty cool and also uses a masonry grid which can be updated instantly based on whether the visitor wants to check breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc. Overall, it’s a versatile theme that would work great for a bar and grill, Irish pub, or hotel bar.

    Theme Description

JZ Pub & Bar has a beautiful and sophisticated design. It’s almost entirely black and white with small accents of goldish brown. With a proper logo placed at the center of the header, this theme creates an old-school aesthetic fit for a classic pub or bar.

Scrolling through the homepage, you’ll see that it has all the sections you need to show off your bar to visitors including a brand statement, what makes your bar different, your signature drinks, contact info, and details about upcoming events. Even better, you can choose exactly which of these sections you want to display and reorder them using the bundled page builder plugin.

The JZ Pub & Bar theme has a ton of useful functionality. For instance, you can publish event pages and advertise them on the site with a countdown ticker. You can also create a full menu listing all of your various drinks and cocktails. With these templates plus image galleries, a blog, and templates for bartenders, there’s not much you can’t do with this bar theme.

    Theme Description

Vino comes with all the style and elegance you’d expect from a WordPress theme made for wine bars. • 6. Piquant by Mikado Themes (Themeforest)

    Piquant

    View theme now Get hosting

    Theme Description

If you check out Piquant, you’ll find they advertise their six different homepages as a major selling point. There are a few that suit bars including the one in the screenshot above.

Piquant has a rather refined tone that would make a sound choice for a cocktail bar or lounge bar. The design makes great use of large, fullscreen width images, dark overlays, and bright, crisp text. Coupled with the limited, high contrast color palette and it’s no wonder this theme brings such a degree of sophistication.

This bar and restaurant theme comes with multiple menu layouts which allow you to decide whether or not you want to include pictures with every dish. You can also add labels to specific entrees like “New” or “Vegetarian.” Piquant also has a beautiful blog design, so if you like to publish often and utilize content marketing for your business, this would be an excellent choice.

  • 8. OldStory by Ancora Themes (Themeforest)

    OldStory

    View theme now Get hosting

    Theme Description

Want a unique look for your bar’s website? OldStory is a beautiful and original theme for whiskey bars and taverns. The vintage aesthetic is enhanced with the Sancreek title font and use of paper-like background textures.

Due to the sophistication of this theme’s aesthetic, it could also be subtly modified to fit a cocktail bar as well. This bar theme keeps the main menu hidden behind a button much like you’ll find on most mobile sites. It creates a modern look but can be a bit harder for visitors to navigate and understand what they’ll find on your site. That said, the homepage is so well designed that if visitors scroll through it they’ll know what your establishment is all about. You can also include a Google Maps embed showing your location on the Contact page and a listing of your opening hours.

OldStory comes with a host of features as well as some bundled plugins like Visual Composer for page building and Slider Revolution for creating responsive sliders.

Which bar theme is best for you?

Porter Pub is an all-around excellent theme for a bar. It nails the neighborhood pub aesthetic and comes with all the features you need. GutenBerg is a solid alternative if you like the neighborhood bar vibe.

JZ Pub & Bar has a similar, but slightly more sophisticated style than Porter Pub and is a good alternative. If you like this aesthetic but want something a little more unique, OldStory is likely the best theme for you.

For a wine bar, you can’t beat Vino. It comes with all the panache and sophistication you’d expect from a wine bar’s website.

If none of these themes so far seem to fit your bar right, check out Groggery. It has a simple design that will work well for numerous types of bars. Dina is also worth considering if you’re in this position.

Piquant has a refined style that makes it adequate for more upscale bars and would work well for a lounge or cocktail bar. And lastly, don’t forget about Alcomix! This cocktail bar theme will bring an air of elegance to your bar’s website.
